What is my ideal student?

What an ideal student is varies from person to person and may range from someone who is a straight "A" student to someone who is involved in many school activities.  But to me an ideal student is someone who, despite how difficult he or she may find a class, continues to push through and works hard to succeed in the course.  He or she takes the time to study and asks for help if he or she needs it, as well as doing what is required of him or her to do well.  Basically, an ideal student is one who maximizes his or her potential and takes advantage of opportunities that are presented.

  1. Very nice. I agree with you 100%. Especially the part about asking for help if they need it. That is crucial to learning, which is important to an ideal student.

  2. I really like your last sentence. I know a lot of people who they'll show every now and then that they are smart, but they just choose to slack off. A strong motivation is definatly required.

  3. Thanks, Lindsey and Matt. I appreciate your post and your comment. Matt, I appreciate how you identified the asking for help part of Lindsey's ideal student. Why do feel that it is crucial to learning?

  4. This is kind of the approach I took towards the ideal student too. A great student works hard, and if they're not getting good results, asking questions is definitely the smart thing to do. Some people think asking for help makes them seem unintelligent, but its the people who don't speak up who are missing out on learning.

  5. Dr. C: I feel that if you are humble enough to ask for help when you need it, then that shows that you have the desire to learn, which, like Toby said, is definitely required.

  6. Dr. C: I believe not being afraid to ask for help really shows that a person cares about his or her grades and doesn't feel like he or she is above getting help. It also shows that they realize everyone needs help at one time or another.
